Shewbread/Presence Bread

Exodus 25:30 -And you shall set the showbread (the bread of the Presence) on the table before Me always.

Leviticus 24: 5-9 – And you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake [of the showbread or bread of the Presence]. And you shall set them in two rows, six in a row, upon the table of pure gold before the Lord. You shall put pure frankincense [in a bowl or spoon] beside each row, that it may be with the bread as a memorial portion, an offering to be made by fire to the Lord.Every Sabbath day Aaron shall set the showbread in order before the Lord continually; it is on behalf of the Israelites, an everlasting covenant. And the bread shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a sacred place, for it   (John Robert Lucas)

The Table of Shewbread

Ex 25:23-29 and 37:10-16: The wooden table is a representation of Christ. Covered in Gold, it reminds us of his everlasting majesty. He became man for us, but kept his deity so he could be our Eternal Life. Its measurement of one cubit wide represents unity, while its two cubits long represents fellowship, both of which stand for the union in Christ, while its height of 1 1/2 cubits suggest the Trinity.

All of this ties into the fact that tables remind of fellowship, which is dependent on unity and involves the Trinity. As Christians, we fellowship together at the table with Jesus Christ at the New Testament Communion table.

The table is topped by Golden crown, standing in for jealousy exclusively held for God, since he is the king of kings, the one true God. In addition, the crown stands for His power and ability to protect his children, which is   (John Robert Lucas)

The Altar

Ex. 27:1–2 – And make the altar of acacia wood, five cubits square and three cubits high [within reach of all]. Make horns for it on its four corners; they shall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlay it with bronze.

The altar simply represents the Cross. It was the only place sacrifices could be offered and God made sure to specify every detail of its design. God chose the location of the altar, what was to be sacrificed there, the material it was made out of, and the size of it. Like the rest of the Tabernacle, everything making the altar also had symbolism in the Kingdom of God.

The Brazen Altar, aka Bronze

The wood is humanity, reminding us that Christ became man to experience our pain, as well as to give his life in exchange for ours. The length and width, which makes a square, typifies that   (John Robert Lucas)

Tabernacle in the Wilderness: The Sanctuary Is For God by George Warnock

“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them” (Ex. 25:8). This, we believe, is the key verse in this whole subject concerning the Temple of God. How it would help us in all our Christian service and ministry, if we could recognize this one important principle: the sanctuary is for God’s abiding place in the midst of men. The whole message of the Gospel is off-center unless it is properly centered in God. We are inclined to relate the Gospel primarily to ourselves, from the standpoint of our need, our lost condition, and our approach toward God. But actually it begins in God, centers about Himself, and reaches forth toward man for the delight of His own heart. The greatest of all sins is our failure to recognize His supreme Lordship in our lives. Before God all men are equally estranged from Him, and   (John Robert Lucas)

The Laver

Ex 30:17-21 and 38:8: The Laver (also called the Brazen Laver, or Brass Laver) was made of brass and mirrors. The mirrors were from the women that served at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. We know that God commanded that the Laver be anointed and consecrated, and that it was used for priestly washing. God does not really give a lot of details other than that. But, because we interpret scripture with scripture, and because we know that the tabernacle represents the Person of Jesus Christ, we can put together the pieces.

Brass means judgment in the Bible, so all the materials that have brass will deal with judgment. But we only see brass in the outer court, whereas the inner courts have gold. Gold represents deity, or God’s nature. The other components to the laver are the mirror and the water. So, I see 3 distinct elements that form the laver.

There are different names referring to the various pieces of furniture in the Tabernacle of Moses. In fact, the Tabernacle as a whole, and the tent have different names as well. Some of the naming differences are due to translation differences. The following list gives different names.

Prophetic of Jesus the Light of God: NAMES: Lampstand, candlestick, pure candlestick, the candlestick of God, golden lampstand, gold lampstand, menorah.  The following outlines characteristics of the Lampstand. The type and shadow that stands out the most is that the gold was beaten to form the Lampstand. Gold represents deity in the Bible. Jesus was deity who was beaten, which resulted in Him becoming the Anointed One that is the Light of men, fed by the oil of the Spirit.

3-Fold Truths

PROVERBS 22:20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge. (KJV)

Strong’s concordance defines this Hebrew word, “Excellent: a triple, a three-fold measure, as a musical instrument with three strings.”

God hides threes all over the Bible. Sometimes, when used, God is saying, “I am bearing witness to truth,” a truth such as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, or Prophet, Priest, and King. These threes are complete and perfect!

Sometimes God is showing threes to represent a three-fold progression of maturity, such as thirty-fold, sixty-fold, hundred-fold, or the tabernacle’s Outer Court, Holy Place, and Holy of Holies, or the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover), Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), and Feast of Ingathering (Tabernacles).

When you see a “3” in the bible, take notice! Then, through God’s Spirit, answer does the 3 symbolize a testimony between the list of 3 items, or is the 3   (John Robert Lucas)

Introduction: Type and Shadows of the Tabernacle

Why should all Christians study the Tabernacle in the Wilderness? I think that a fitting scripture for this answer is Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter. NASU. As we study not only the Tabernacle, but also the Temple of Solomon, the Feasts of Israel, and God’s detailed plan from Genesis to Revelation, we quickly find out that God grants wisdom and knowledge to those who seek Him.

Seeking Him takes great effort, and rarely are His truths set out in front of you in entirety, or in 100% accuracy. In contrast, God keeps many types, shadows, and symbols obscured, especially to the carnal and immature. What I find astounding is that God has sent many teachers that have unveiled a lot of these mysteries–mysteries that one can easily find in good Internet articles and books,   (John Robert Lucas)

Brazen Laver

Ex 30:17-21 Brass or Brazen Laver

17 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

18 “You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base of bronze, for washing; and you shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it.

19 “Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet from it;

20 when they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they will not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to the Lord.

21 “So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they will not die; and it shall be a perpetual statute for them, for Aaron and his descendants throughout their generations.”

Altar of Incense

Ex 37:25-29 Altar of Incense

25 Then he made the altar of incense of acacia wood: a cubit long and a cubit wide, square, and two cubits high; its horns were of one piece with it.

26 He overlaid it with pure gold, its top and its sides all around, and its horns; and he made a gold molding for it all around.

27 He made two golden rings for it under its molding, on its two sides — on opposite sides — as holders for poles with which to carry it.

28 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.

29 And he made the holy anointing oil and the pure, fragrant incense of spices, the work of a perfumer.
